"factory" oil filter

I've got a question about the handy little oil filters that are 
available from places like Vick, Bruce, and AlfaBill...are they 
*really* appropriate for Alfa V6 engines?  I noticed today that the 
side of the box lists applications, and includes a multitude of 
Fiats, Lancias, and Autobianchis, none of which displace more than 
1.5L.  So I have to wonder how a filter that claims to be appropriate 
for such tiny engines only can be adequate for a 2.5L with a 7qt. oil 
capacity.
