Re: Anyone fitted H.I.D. headlights to a 60s Alfa?
Sorry I didn't weigh in on this earlier, but I was out of town, and
when I wasn't driving 700lbs of passengers and luggage accross
Pennsylvania in my GTV-6 with a huge hole in the exhaust and bubbles
in the AC refrigerant, I was drunk.
I wouldn't mess with HID on a two-headlight system. I would be
curious to see how and HID kit on a GTV-6 would compare to the Cibie
Complex Reflector 4x H1 setup.
For a Spider I think I'd recommend a pair of Cibie H4 units. The
Hellas aren't bad, but on a vintage car, I think their flat faces
look out-of-place, although it doesn't bother me if they're behind
covers like on a Duetto or a Dino. I wouldn't mess around with any
DOT-spec BS. Although $12 H4's in JC Whitney may look appealing,
you're not going to get the same quality of lighting that you would
with Cibie or Hella.
If you haven't already found sources, here are the people I deal with:
http://lighting.mbz.org (seems to be down)
http://catalog.com/susq (Hella)
http://www.talbotco.com (Cibie)
