Re: different bosch lower injector seals for 89 spider

Hi Dan:

I'm getting close to pulling the injectors on my '87 Spider, and my plan was to just take an old seal and injector to an auto parts store, to match the seal to something generic. My wife drives a '94 Volvo 850 Turbo, and the Volvo dealer wanted something like $12 per seal (that's what one gets for buying a 5-cylinder car Swedish Ford). An AutoZone store had a good selection of different seals, and I bought a box of six seals for about $8. The seals weren't shown in any of the AutoZone's listings, so the guy at the counter let me look through what they had.

For future reference, if you've never had your injectors cleaned, it can make a big difference. Here's the place I've used:

Subject: different bosch lower injector seals for 89 spider

Hi All,

My old lower injector seals filled the round cavities in the intake manifold. I've ordered "lower injector seals" twice now, and keep getting much smaller rubber seals. The new seal i.d. fit the injector tip well but the o.d. is much smaller, and they are shorter. I put the new seals in with an o-ring to take up the space. Anyone know what the story is with these seals--are the bigger seals no longer available, or do I keep getting the wrong seals?

thanks much in advance. dan in kc, 89 spider.
