Re: temporary top repair
I once extended the life of an old top by buying scrap nylon top material
from an automotive upholsterer, together with the contact cement he uses. I cut
out the damaged portion, made a patch for the inside, then for the outside and
glued them in. It cost only thirty dollars, mostly for a quart of the special
contact cement. The material matched fairly well and the repair lasted two
years, until I could afford a new top.
