installation of castor rod bushings

I'm trying to help another Houston alfisti who is inthe process of 
rebuilding the front suspension on a 78 Spider.He purchased new castor rod 
bushings that have 2 parallel spaces or voids in the inner portion of the 
bushing(similar to the spaces in the transmission mount except that in this 
instance the voids are uniform in dimension).His concern is the orientation 
of the voids-will it affect the performance or longevity of the bushing if 
the voids line up in the same direction as the movement of the  castor rod?
