How did the engine repay me as I re-torqued the head?  Can you guess?  Sure
you can, here's the punchline: one of the middle head studs simply pulled
out of the block.

I just finished pulling out the stud, then I removed the head.  At least the
area is easily accessible with the liners still in.  We'll see what the
pro's recommend.  This 1600 block has been modified with larger studs from a
1750/2000 already.  The hole in the block for the head is around 30mm deep.

We will prevail.
