Re: Gasket for Banjo Fitting

Hi Dick:

I'm not going to be convinced that the edge profile of a piece of copper will lead to the demise of an Alfa engine. But, because I had them, and because they're the right size, I used Volvo 850 oil drain plug washers on the banjo fitting of my '74 Spider. The Volvo washers are aluminum, so I'm safe for sure.

Subject: Gasket for Banjo Fitting

The gasket of the heater hose banjo fitting on my intake manifold is
leaking. The gasket appears to be some kind of red fibrous material.
I looked in my collection of gasket sets and found the correct size,
but it is made of copper. With the recent discussion of copper and
aluminum reactions, I'm not sure I want to use them. Anybody have a
source for the correct gasket?
