hmmm, that's a considerably more elegant solution than
i had thought of, which was to replace the tensioner
with a  worm-geared servo so that it couldn't
introduce slack into the system when it failed or was
back-driven. OTOH, a new tensioner would be a drop-in
fix, rather than modifying the block/heads to hold a
pulley...
