Oil consumption

Is that really excessive? Our 2.5 has used it at that rate as long as
we've had it, though now it's more like 300 miles. After years of
English cars and old Volvos, plus a 4-cylinder Alfa or two, I figured
500 miles was on the easy side of normal.
