I got one of these gaskets (OEM) for my 74 Spider from the boys at DiFatta
( http://www.difatta.com/ )  in Baltimore, MD.  As I recall the thing cost a 
buck or two.  Just call them and they'll hook you up.

I'm almost certain that cork and petrol go together like Hillary! and Bill; 
go with the OEM rubber thingy instead.

can't help you with the "undercoating"; sorry ...
