It's because a) people don't understand physics/chemistry and b) DuPont wants it that way.

For some reason people think any amount of flammable gas = hindenburg. When in fact, it's so much safer than flammable liquids in the auto environment. Besides although freon and R-134a are not flammable, the oils used with them quite clearly are, so what exactly are you protecting yourself from by not allowing LPG.

You're protecting the profits of the makers of R-134a, and all the crap that goes with it. LPG is practically is so cheap it would hardly make sense to charge for it in the quantities used in an auto AC system.

PS I'm happily using LPG refrigerant (actually it's a propane/iso-butane mixture.)
