Have you checked the charging voltage of the electrical system?

If the system is overcharging and boiling the battery you will get this odor
too. With all the accessories off, and the engine at something above idle
(1500 rpm or so) you should see 13.8 - 14.2 volts across the battery.

If you are smelling rotten eggs, it is because your catalytic converter is
converting too much sulfur into sulfur dioxide.  This is caused by either a
low grade fuel with too high a concentration of sulfur, or by a rich running
engine.



I suggest an ignition and fuel injection tune up (spica?) and trying a
better source for your gasoline.



It sounds like the converter is installed properly and it is doing it's job.
