Trying to think of a subject heading which won't get me banned for life

(Visualize, or, unnh, audioize Andy Rooney's whiny voice): Have you ever
noticed there is a largish (percentage wise) more than a few
'character' types attracted to Alfa Romeos?

Even though its a known fact Alfa folk are way beyond cheap, wouldn't
you think by now they'd figure out:

Cheap: Difficult supplier, perhaps not the best quality, get it when
it's convenient to the supplier. Whining doesn't help. Probably only
hinders.

Expensive: Better service, probably (but not necessarily) better
quality. Most likely will receive order in a reasonable amount of time
(unless they're out of stock).

Yes, by all means, sic the BBB on the Cheap supplier when he doesn't
jump to and is currently (albeit not for the first time) having
problems. WOW! You've now put one more Alfa parts supplier out of
business.

Just what we all need.

This might come as a huge shock: There are business, known as upholstery
shops, who do more than just install your supplied top - they actually
take your old one as a pattern and make a new one. Want a plastic window
which zips out, just ask (and be willing to pay extra). Want glass?
Sure, as long as it can be about 3" x 20". The plastic one folds in two
when not in use, thus the reason it is plastic. Glass doesn't bend well.

The upholstery shop could probably even be persuaded (for a price) to
get off the worst of the rust and throw on some quick dry paint (for a
price). Bet they'd even be willing to send it out and have it sand
blasted (if needed) and paint with some pretty decent paint and let dry
over night (for a price and some extra time).
