POR-15
I know this has come up before, but what do you all have to say about
POR-15, and/or any other serious rust treatments on the market? I
have to do something about my spare tire well very soon, and I'd
rather not spend a bunch of time and money on it if I'm going to let
the whole trunk floor fall out, so I'm thinking about taking steps to
prevent that from happening. It doesn't have to look good, last more
than a couple years, or be particularly safe (or particularly
watertight for that matter), but all the seams in that part of the
car are shot, the bumper's about to fall off, and the sides of the
spare tire well are intact over less than 180 degrees. I think what
I want to do is weld/rivet/glue in a new spare tire well, fabricate
new bumper supports, and fiberglass over any remaining major holes,
but I'll need something other than rust to attach these things to, so
I'm hoping that maybe a product like POR-15 might turn existing rusty
metal into something I could at least stick fiberglass to.
TIA,
Joe Elliott
