Subject: Electric fan in Spider

I am the original owner of an '89 Spider Veloce with air conditioning. It
has a fan on the water pump and two electric fans visible if you look
through the opening in the front air dam. The electric fans do come on
whenever the air conditioner is running. They will also come on when the air
conditioning is not running when the car is hot. It is not uncommon to shut
off the car in the driveway on a hot summer day and to hear the fans kick
themselves on a few minutes later. Or if you're idling in traffic on a hot
day, even with the A/C off, they will kick on if the engine temp starts to
climb.
