Hi Bill:

I posted to the Digest, around two years ago (with several repeats) that I 
used a Master E2000 fuel pump (from AutoZone) on my '74 Spica Spider.  If I 
recall, it was around $80, with a lifetime warranty, and the E2000 was 
listed as a replacement for some Ford truck with an injected V8.  My Spider 
still runs great, and several other Digesters have told me that pump worked 
well on their cars, too.

To recap some of the details, the pump looks like a clone of the late-style 
Bosch pumps, where the fuel line fittings are axially-oriented and the fuel 
flows through the motor of the pump.  You will likely have to re-configure 
the fuel lines under the car, but they're probably old enough to need 
replacement, anyway.  A clamp to mount the pump may have to be fabricated, 
too, and I used a generic tailpipe hanger, which had a rubber strap and a 
clamp like you'd see on an ignition coil.  You might also have to play with 
the orifice in the fuel outlet on the Spica pump, and I found that a 1mm 
orifice works well on mine.  One warning I do feel obligated to mention is 
that all these "generic" pumps may not have the same specs, so I can't 
promise the success that I and several others have had.

A 240Z pump certainly wouldn't work, as those original Z's were carb'ed.  A 
pump from a later, injected Z might work, though.
