Jim-  First you need to ensure that the steering box is centered.  Jack the
front of the car up to unload the wheels and make it easier to turn the
steering wheel.  Then turn the steering wheel from lock to lock counting the
turns.  Turn the steering wheel back exactly half way.  The steering wheel
should now be centered.  If not, remove it and repostion it being careful not
to move the steering shaft.  Now the steering wheel and steering box are
centered.
Now, drive the car.  If the steering wheel is still centered, you are good to
go.  If not, now you need to get an alignment. The linkages and adjustments
are off.

I have a Duetto with a steering wheel that is turned 30 degrees when the car's
tires are in a straight-ahead position.  Could someone tell me the easiest
procedure for making a correction?
