Tires - results
Hey everybody,
A couple of weeks ago I queried the list about competition tires for my
GTV6. Criteria was good stick, and hopefully get through a season of
time trialing (6-10 track days).
Recommendations were Hoosiers if I didn't care about only getting 1-2
days out of them, Toyo's if I wanted max life, and an overwhelming
number of responses in favor of the Kuhmos.
A number of folks also suggested I could use the 225/50 Kuhmos with
'minimal trimming' of my air dam, something I was hoping to avoid.
So at the last moment, I decided to go with the 225/50 Kuhmos, instead
of the 205/50's.
The air dam was close, but I didn't do any trimming. The tires may have
rubbed once or twice (the wheels are 15x7 Momo's, fwiw).
I just spent 2 days on the track at Lime Rock, one in the dry and one in
the wet, and I'm quite pleased with the results. Maybe not quite as
sticky as the Hoosiers, but the stick was good enough for me, and after
9 sessions they really don't show much signs of wear.
So, consider me a happy camper.
It was great to see old friends at the track again. Bob Brady, fearless
in the wet, but I guess that happens when you've got Nick Fonte in that
Alfetta Sport Sedan right on your rear bumper.
Great fun!
