You need to remove the distributor from the engine to get to the points.
After disconnecting the wiring harness, remove the single 6mm (10mm head size) nut on top of the retaining plate. Collect the washer, and pull the distributor straight up. It helps to make a mental note of approximately what direction the rotor is pointing.
The distributor drive will only engage one way, but I have heard it is possible to install it 180 degrees out.
To install the distributor, simply turn the rotor while pushing on the distributor lightly and you should feel the drive dog engage.
You will need to use a timing light to reset the timing ('M' mark at approx. 5,000 rpm).
