Re: Battery

Glenn,
I also had trouble keeping the battery charged on
my 83 spider, especially in the winter months when the
car wasn't getting much use. The problem turned out
to be the interior light under the rear-view mirror.
While I'm sure you'll get a lot of suggestions on how
to check for battery drains (e.g. removing one by one
all the fuses), I would say that 5 years is close to a
battery's life expectancy. A 1/2 hour drive
definitely does not recharge it completely. I ended
up buying a battery charger from SEARS, and pluging it
in for about 2-3 hours to get the battery fully
charged whenever needed (before I discovered what the
problem was). It's been one of the best
garage-related purchases for me.
