Trailing Arm bolts

I'm trying to install a chassis stiffener, but the bolts for the trailing 
arms are a bit too short to make it through the stiffener.  I'd like to buy 
some longer bolts.  Is there anything special I need to know... i.e. what 
type of metal bolt will be strong enough.
