RE: okp Milano driveshaft

As someone who tries to earn a living working on cars a majority of which
are Alfas, yes it is tough. I'm a one man operation, I spend an inordinate
amount of time trying to find obscure NLA parts to complete repairs, waiting
for said parts, and 'handholding' of my customers.

A lot of cars come to me after others have attempted to fix them, so I need
to start by undoing and/or fixing all the things that are not correct. The
most common of which are stripped threads in various places. You'd be amazed
at how many Heli-coils I install.

Add to this the fact that many of these cars are just plain getting old, and
many things still sort of work ok, but are getting worn. I've seen many cars
recently developing problems due to worn out driveshaft yokes, worn
differential carrier or pinion bearings and the like.

I could go on and on, but I'll stop here. I will say it can get very
frustrating at times.

<I don't envy the Alfa mechanics job. I think for the most part they
make a very honest buck. I currently make about $40 an hour at work...
If I was smart I'd work more, and pay someone to keep my Alfas in top
shape (or buy nice ones to start with.) But then how could I justify
buying so many tools?>
