Verde stuck in first gear

For several months now my Verde has occasionaly been hard to get into first
gear.  It feels 'notchy' and requires a little extra effort to get into
first gear.  What's interesting is that after you pursuade it to go in, it
takes equal effort to get back out.

On my way home a couple of days I was pulling into my driveway and it was
again hard to get into first gear.  I pushed a little harder and it went in.
After pulling into my garage it would not come out (!).  Even using both
hands, I could not get it out of first gear.

Anyone experienced this before?  I'm going to get the car on the lift this
weekend to see if I can get it out of gear by hand.  Thanks.
