chassis stiffener
Gentle Alfisti,
A little engineering knowledge might be a dangerous thing, but I'm unsure
about a spider chassis stiffener as presented by the aftermarket purveyors.
The stiffener attaches the front firewall in two places through the steering
box and idler fastenings. The square-section tubing that runs rearward and
links the trailing arms is so tight to the major structural moment-resisting
element, the rockers, that significant stiffening is doubtful, in my mind.
The means to stiffen a chassis is to get material away from the axis of
rotation, like what a coupes roof does.
On the otherhand, testimonials are testimonials.
