Re: Magazines

I fully agree. 'AutoItalia' is great reading from cover to cover. I'm a bit miffed, however, at the recent price increase here in the USA. I recently bought the February issue at my local Tower Books, and was somewhat taken aback to find that the price had gone up from US$7.99/issue to US$9.99/issue - over one month! I'm about to look at subscribing again. It used to be a wash - a copy bought on the newsstand was roughly the same price as an overseas subscription (they are in GB), but now the newsstand price is significantly more.

Another excellent magazine is 'Forza.' Its dedicated to Ferrari (and a smattering of Maserati), but its fascinating reading for all Italian car buffs. The photography is first rate and the editorial content is excellent. They have a technical column that I have found to be interesting and VERY germane to Alfas on several occasions even thought the writer was talking about Ferraris. One column was about sticky power windows on Ferraris - and guess what? Its EXACTLY the same mechanism as the one in my Alfa GTV-6! With the help of that article I was able to fix both of my sluggish side windows. Another recent article on spark plugs made so much sense and explained heat ranges and how to pick NGK plugs so well, that I was able to change to NGKs from Lodge, and the car starts better, runs better and doesn't foul. I'd recommend 'Forza' to any Alfisti for the general 'Eye-dy' car info alone.

On the Alfa Romeo front, There is only one great magazine in the USA, and that's 'Overheard Cams.' You have to be a member of the Alfa Romeo Association of California to get it, but its worth it for the magazine alone.
To join, visit:

That editor they've got puts together one entertaining and informative rag every month. Every US Alfisti ought to become a member just for the 'Cams.' ; ->

Car and Driver is not my favorite mag but I usually find
something of interest in there. My favorite mag... and I find
it odd I never see it mentioned here, is Auto Italia. Italian
cars through and through.
