RE: F1 on Speed Channel Renewed

Partly correct sir,
It was indeed a great race. But, Speed Channel will show all races live
including the U.S.G.P. for which they will be the "host" broadcaster. This
info is from Jim Liberatore aka "speed1" on their message boards.

in more detail

F1ers-

-Speed will have ALL the races this year, which means no tape delayed races!
In years out, F1 can move races to broadcast, but in there words, "with your
(Speed's) incredible growth, it becomes less and less likely we will want to
do that".

-The F1 decade shows are 1 hour programs from all 16 races 10 years ago.
This year we will be showing the entire 1993 season, nest year 1994 etc.
Times for the shows are TBD. We have also left the door open to possibly get
back into the F1 "vault" for other programming along the way. The quote
there was, "we can talk about it".

-Three year deal. No anxiety next year or the year after.

-Friday and Saturday coverge remains the same. (kimi911, we do not think at
this time we will be airing both practice sessions).

-As stated above, USGP will be on Speed this year.

-Speed now will cover F1 past, present and thru F3000, the F1 future.

I want to give you all an enormous "thank you" for your efforts in helping
us, whether you know you did or not. I really think thru our web-site and
his own, Mr. Eccleston has a greater appreciation for the passion of the
American F1 fan. That is why I think he was receptive to coverage like we
have been given...well, "given" is probably the wrong word, so let's say,
made available somewhat within our means!

Now another favor. if Speed is not available in your area, or if you are
paying extra for it on a a digital tier, please let your cable operators
know you want Speed on your BASIC cable line-up!!! In cities like Atlanta
and NJ, Speed has been dropped down to basic because of the overwhelming
demand of the customer. Granted, that was the NASCAR fan calling, but now is
your turn. Please call, write, email, picket, whatever, but let your cable
company know that Speed has earned a spot on YOUR basic cable line-up. It
does make a difference and you can be heard as I hope you have found out on
these boards. (please be respectful in those calls because the cable guys
are Speed's customer too!)

Thank you and enjoy!

The F1 in Australia was the most entertaining F1 race
in years....JMHO

Some time ago there was speculation on this site that
at the first opportunity Speed Channel would drop
coverage of F1. During qualifying for the Australian
GP they announced that Speed Channel had just signed a
new 3 year contract to continue F1 coverage including
qualifying. No details, but with the usual
exceptions, USGP and Monte Carlo, I would guess. They
are predicting improved coverage with more in car
cameras than before.
