Bad runing 164 fixed - Hallelujah!

Well the 164 is back up and running great. The problem was the cruise control plumbing. I am posting this followup so that someone else with the same problem might be saved the weeks of angst that I had.

Check my earlier post and you will see that the car was running badly, would only go 2-3 miles before loss of power, check engine light, 1223 code. I worked through 15-20 trouble shooting threads. I even pulled the fuel pump to confirm the one-inch link was OK. Even said "Aha" when I saw the water and crud in the bottom of the fuel tank - all to no effect.
Finally, I pulled the cruise control vacuum tube from the plenum and blocked it off. The car runs. In the back of my head, I remember my son saying that the cruise control had stopped working. I even pulled the vacuum hose at the cruise control actuator unit and because I heard a small "woosh", dismissed this as a possible problem. (This is down stream of the vacuum tank.)

But, it WAS the cruise control. I haven't actually pulled the CC vacuum tank, but I am guessing that the extreme cold and 12 years of use resulted in a crack just big enough to cause the problem.

So here are the sysmptoms again. Car starts, runs for a few minutes/miles, loses power, will restart and repeat the cycle after sitting for a few minutes, 1223 error code AND no cruise control.
