hi ian, 

if ya haven't gotten yer car weighed yet, ya mite wanna look in the yellow pages for a place close to ya that buys scrap metal.  a typical way they buy stuff, is for ya to drive on the scales w/yer load, & then drive on again after ya unload.  they pay ya for the difference.  call one up & see if they'll let ya weigh yer car.  or, find some scrap to sell!  ;~)  should be accurate w/in a couple pounds...
