paint damage frm car covers

I got home so late from Roebling that I forgot to remove the magnetic 
numbers from the side of the car.  Now where the numbers were, there is a 
difference from the rest of the paint -- it's a little milky and discolored. 
 I think it's similar to what happenes when a wet car cover gets left on.  
Is there anything that can be done?
