Re: Giulia Super door hinge pin removal

Andrew Watry asked about Giulia Super door pin removal; Kevin Trent gave one
work-around answer.

Don't know if it's possibly any help, but the Giulia Body Shop Manual 1570
says to first remove the spreader plug from the hinge pin and then remove the
pin with an offset punch "which can be easily manufactured or purchased
locally." Says to start with the lower hinge; shows both pins being removed
from top down.

Offset wear on the pin, which both mentioned, is quite likely. To Andrew's
"usual prescription of penetrating oil, time, heat, and force?" I would add
the perhaps-obvious moderate upward pressure on the rear of the door to unload
the worn pin. I'd go easy on the heat, even if it took a lot longer. Prayer
might help, if you're a believer. Or curses. Luck, too.

Sincere best wishes,

John H.
