Another thing to do once the head is off, is to check the alignment of the long 
studs protruding from the block.  Use the head gasket as your template.  If 
these studs are bent, obviously taking the head off and on will not be as 
easy.  I straightened my studs out, using a lot of leverage and being careful, 
and now the head just lifts off and on once it's freed.

I may need to use a thicker than normal head gasket, I will call the usual Alfa 
resources to see what's available.  I use a 1750 head gasket.
