Alfa parts (Was rant from "Another top question")

In #269 TJ Callahan posts the following:

Uhhh, Biba, I'm getting the posts in digest form and Seattle *is*
further
west than LA.

(BTW, the rest of you didn't see the nifty off-line message Biba sent to
me -
twice - when the Alfetta euro manifolds were posted. It was heartwarming
and
humorous. :-)

Sorry for the NAC.

*******

This goes back to the recent post of James Tyson's offering a set of
Euro Alfetta GT exhaust headers along with a Euro NOS Ansa front exhaust
for $75.

I said yes, Tom apparently said it sooner. Not surprising since I'm not
really much of an early bird.

When it was posted that Tom had 'won' the set, I sent him a very nice
email - actually two. The first's subject heading was "Schmuck!". The
second (revised) one was "Irish Schmuck!". True, I considered Mick
Schmuck!, but that would have been in somewhat bad taste.

I'd recently sent Tom some information on how I'd go about polishing the
cam cover for his Alfetta GT engine rebuild in progress - (send it out
and save yourself a lot of grief).

Okay, take your right hand and place your first finger on top of your
thumb and move it back and forth (baby violin - as in 'oh woe is me').

Truth be told I have a pretty decent set of Euro headers NLA [no longer
available (new)] on my Alfetta GT at the moment. However, I've gone
through several 1 : 4 Euro headers (which were apparently carefully
designed to crack in the rear crotch) since I installed them in '79. My
front and center exhaust system is a used set I bought from Dave Vegher
in '79. Much welding has gone on through the years to keep them 'alive'
and the center muffler has been replaced several times (along with the
rear section's Ansa exhaust).

Must admit no one ever put a gun to my head and said, "Boy, ya gotta
install a Urpeen exhaust system on yer car." However, as I've frequently
stated, powerwise it was like night and day. True, catalytic converters
were still in their infancy - Alfa's '75 version being about as infant
as you will find anywhere. As an added bonus, valves have lasted a Lot
longer.

(Here's where you get out the rosin and apply to your first finger):
Quite possibly my Alfetta GT will be the only (running) car I'll own for
the rest of my life. I would like to squeeze in an Aston Martin
Vanquish, but suspect that is more than a bit of a long-shot.

So, Tom, treat those Euro headers and very rare (at least in the US of
A) NOS front exhaust Very Carefully - and as I mentioned before - send
pictures.
