       Did you have the block cross drilled for full oil to all five main 
bearings?  The stock block provides oil only to numbers 1, 3 and 5 main 
bearings.  The oil for 2 & 4 has to travel out the crankshaft and return 
against centrifugal force.  Every Alfa I have ever seen with a spun main was 
on either 2 or 4, unless they were all gone from loss of oil.
       Drill 2 & 4 from the exhaust side and plug the opening with set 
screws.
