Re: Troublesome Spider gauges

Paul wrote that his " '87 currently has two functioning gauges.
The speedometer and the fuel gauge. Everything else is
nonfunctional." When I got my '86 Spider several years ago, I
recall a similar problem. I believe the solution was found on
several fronts. 1) Corrosion is not your friend - the gauge
cluster is attached electrically by (I believe) 4 connectors. Take
these apart and use an electronic cleaning solution to remove any
corrosion. 2) Check that all your sender work - I replaced my fuel
level and oil pressure sender. 3) Get a wiring diagram and trace
out any ground associated with the instrument cluster, unbolt,
clean off all corrosion and re-assemble. This will probably get
your gauges working again unless someone (DPO) has taken the
cluster apart and "fixed" it!
