RE: Shipment of Motor and Trany

Any of the major LTL carriers will be fairly expensive, especially if
they quote you based incomplete information. Yellow probably gave you
the class 100 rate for a new or rebuilt motor valued between $5 to $10 a
pound, and the quote would be less if the items need reconditioning,
which are class 85 on a pallet or loose, and class 70, the cheapest, if
in a box or crate not being too oversized. Declare item 120790 in box or
crate and needing rebuilding for the cheapest rates with Yellow Roadway
or similar. Used parts and transmissions needing rebuilding are also
class 70.

Try contacting some of the brokers to shop for you, as there are cheaper
alternatives. http://www.freightquote.com/ is one. Look in your local
phonebook for freight or transportation brokers, and perhaps one can fit
your parts into a pending load for a cheaper price.
