Steering Column Shaft Removal

Hi,

Would anyone know how to remove the upper steering column shaft from a
74 GTV.  There appears to be a coupling - nut that attaches the upper
steering shaft to the steering shaft coming from the steering box.  Is
this a slip on fitting or does it tighten to the shafts somehow.
