Re: Milkshake

Milk shake follow up.

Now I'm really stumped. When I removed the Spica Pump there was nothing
but milkshake (water & Oil) inside the pump. But when I removed the
valve cover there was no sign of milkshake even though the dipstick, PCV
Canister, Cam cover Breather tube, oil cap & Spica Pump were covered or
full with it.

I should have stopped there but my Alfa Mechanic is laid up with back
surgery and I thought this would be a fun project. Anyway the head
was removed using the clothes line trick, stuffing clothes line in
cylinders 2 & 3. After the head was removed I inspected the headgasket
and o-rings and they looked (to my dismay) intact. No signs of water
and oil mixing. And if that wasn't bad enough, in process of removing
the crank pulley and head I screwed up the front engine cover & Crank
Pulley. Would any one have any extras lying around they would like to
get rid of? Please!

Tonight I'm going to drain the engine oil from the sump and see what the
oil looks like. Yea Yea I know I probably should have done this first.
But when I removed the Spica Pump from the Engine there was milkshake
oozing from the Spica Pump oil feed hole in the front engine cover. So
I Assumed milk shake was everywhere.
Tonight I'll finish removing the front cover and see if there are any
casting flaws? I was planning on taking the front cover off anyway due
to it leaking oil where the front cover meets the engine block near the
rubber o-ring groove. Maybe this is related to my oil in the water
problem?

By chance I took my motor apart for nothing and screwed up a couple of
parts in the process. Where did all the milkshake come from that's in
the Spica pump??? The only thing I can think of is condensation?? But
when I changed the Spica pump oil filter in September I flushed the
logic section out with new oil at the same time.

BTW the motor supposedly was rebuilt 13000 miles ago and I have never
seen so much silicone used and have a motor leak oil like this one.

Thanks to all for the tips.
