Re: warning lights are possessed - 164
Pete,
This happened in increasing amounts on my 91 164. I finally tracked it down to an expanded connector pin on the electronic module plug underneath the glove box. The wire cable that plugs into this box has a row of female connectors. The leftmost (or rightmost) pin was expanding over time. Most likely due to it being the main ground or power for the electronic module. I'm guessing this single pin develops heat over time from the current and expands accordingly. You can shake this plug while the car is on to see if it changes the christmas tree behavior. If so just push the pins closer together. No problems on mine ever since.

All my warning lights have a bad habit of flickering - usally when I hit
bumps in the road, but sometimes just for the heck of it. Sometimes just
once or twice, other times for 20 + seconds. I suspect it has something to do with the "test" button circuit. I check the fuse and cleaned out the button/connections and jiggled the wiring to it. Seems ok. Is there a relay or something else to look for? Thanks in advance
