Re: Engine stands

I simply modified the stand I had. With the engine supported at the rear
casting (in this case a 6.2 diesel V8) in the usual manner, I made up a
couple of saddles to sit on the square tube legs of the stand and welded
more square tubing to these. On top, a couple of plates to match the
engine mounts and viola !!. I have even used this setup to run the engine
before refitting to the vehicle. I now quickly make up a new set of mounts
for each new engine type.

I guess the important part is getting a stand having two horizontal
longitudinal members, not the single 'T' shaped setup.

Subject: Engine stands

Anyone know of a source of engine stand that holds the engine at engine
mounts so rear is accessible - need one for upcoming V-6 rebuild.

tnx
