re: brake rotors

Dan, I think the reason you may not remember is because -- to my
recollection -- the topic of disc brakes doesn't come down to just rotors.
It also involves the type of brake fluid you run, the composition of the
pads, how often to bleed the fluid (depending on what kind of use the
car gets), etc. Then there's the discussion of the value of cryogenically
prepping rotors, and the issue of whether cross-drilling makes the rotors
more brittle. Let's see... I think it was Richard who gave a lengthy
dissertation on how slots evacuate the gas buildup during the application
of braking.... oh and we may have talked about aluminum brakes vs.
cast-iron ... (or was that the Ducati digest? I can't remember). There
were also a few factoids on SS brake lines vs rubber ... maybe this is
where the aircraft fittings came in... Oh yeah... then there was a huge
discussion about braking TECHNIQUE. And probably, no most assuredly it
was Fred, who said "just don't use 'em"!

I'm sure eveyone is curious to know, what is the car you plan to fit with
new rotors, and what's the application (street, track, combination)?
They're probably ready for this discussion again...

&:-)
