RE: sparkplugs

Back in the 60's we used a platinum/iridium electrode spark plug in the big
radial aircraft engines (R-3350's etc)and they ran forever.  Most plugs at the
time had an hour limit, but these I believe we ran to failure which very
seldom ever happened.

It's been a while since the sparkplug thread petered out, but has anyone heard
of Iridium sparkplugs?  My friendly local auto-parts store has a special on
NGK Iridium plugs at the moment, and I've never even heard of the things.
