RE: Milano - Hard starting, runs great otherwise
Thanks for the advise guys. To answer some of your questions;
It only happens in the morning when it's cold. Even if it sits ( at work )
for eight hours it ussually starts quicker then but still slower then when
the car is warm. When it's just running errands the thing starts right up no
problem.
It could be fuel pressure related, however I have to crank it quite a bit to
get it to start, unless we know how long it takes to pressurize the fuel
system, it's hard to say what the car is doing during this cranking period.
One other clue it doesn't instantly start firing on all 6. For the first 2
or 3 revolutions of the motor it is very rough. It is very quick to start
running perfectly though, and if your not listening you would miss it.
It's like the EFI doesnt realize that the engine is cold and being started
for the first time. However after the motor is running it idles just fine
when its cold. So the "choke" circuitry must be working.
Hope this helps.

This is not normal. It sounds like a fuel pressure problem. Probably caused
by a faulty pressure regulator, but could be caused by any small leak on the
pressurized side of the system. Is it worse after the car sits for several
hours?
The pump does not run with the key on and the engine not running. It does
run when you crank and thus builds up pressure. The second time you try to
start the car the pressure is there and the car starts.
For what it is worth,
Ben
