re: Tony's Big Wheelz

Tony, why didn't you say so in the first place!!!!????

You can hobble on down to your local BMW-Mini dealership and check out
the tires on the new Mini! The 16" come with run-flats, the 15" may come
with them as well. We had a large-ish discussion about this when one of
my coworkers (who last week became my boss, so it's a good thing I
impressed him before the re-org happened) brought his Mini out to our
NWARC driving school. We were assessing what to do about tire pressures
.... It turns out the run-flats are quite a compromise tire, not being
super fabulous in the dry or the wet....

I'll do a lot of knocking on wood here (knock knock knock knock)... but
I've taken to driving around without a spare tire at all on my daily
driver. I took the interior out for a time trial a year or so ago and
decided the spare was the one thing I didn't want to lift back into the
trunk. The spider (not my current daily driver - long story) has a rock in
the spare tire well (since I'm not the first, nor perhaps the second,
owner of the car, you can probably figure out what that means).

Mike, if we could fly JH over to your airie in the woods for some R&R. I'm
sure the politicking and pharmacokinetics that would occur (after an
evening spent by the fire with some good wine and hallucinogenic drugs)
would just about topple the Alfa Digest on its collective ear.

&:-)
