As for 17" wheels on a spider, hell if its your car, and you want to - why not
    put on whatever you want. I think the current spider looks better with 18"
    wheels - more like a mini-prancing horse than fiat - but cannot afford
    the wheels, the tyres or suspension changes necessary to mount them.
There has been some criticism on the digest about "self-righteous beemer drivers"
Seems there are some a-r owners with the same trait!
And as for ferrari still racing with 13 or 14" wheels, what road going ferrari did
you last
 see with 14" wheels?
    the 456 GTA has 255/45 ZR 17 front, 265/40 ZR 17 rear
    the 360 Modena has 215/45 ZR 18 frnt, 275/40 ZR 18 rear
    the Enzo, pushed as racing technology on the road, has 19" front (245/40) and
rear (345/35)!
If they thought skinny thin wheels would work better, they would market the enzo
with the
    citreon 2CV wheels (but lightweight!)
