In SoCal this weekend

Kevin asked:

I'll be in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach on business from this Thursday night

to Saturday pm, if there are any fellow digesters who know of alfa-related
events in the area or just want to get together for a drink or lunch or
whatever. Look forward to seeing lots of Alfas in sunny Cal!

Kevin, your timing couldn't get any better! Right now we're experiencing
summer-like weather conditions (75-85 degrees F. daytime temperatures!!!),
prime for spiders and any Alfas. Hell, you could head for the beach, and
catch some waves!

And, you shouldn't miss a revered, cult event that takes place every
Saturday morning in nearby Huntington Beach: Donut Derelicts
(http://www.donut-derelicts.com/). This gathering begins before 6:00 AM
(ugh!), and is over by 8:30 AM, and is completely unorganized, spontaneous,
and different each Saturday. Last Saturday there were in excess of 150 cars,
mostly hot rods, customs, vintage racers, three real (!) Cobras, kit cars,
and a new customized show car, a 2002 Thunderbird built and driven by Chip
Foose (sp?). It's not uncommon to see Alfas there, as well as an occasional
Ferrari, Lancia or classic Brit. There's also an occasional prototype and/or
non-US car brought by any of the locally-based car magazines, or the
manufacturers in SoCal.

Depending on your available time, you should also consider a trip to the
Petersen Automotive Museum (http://www.petersen.org) in Los Angeles, less
than one (weekend) hour's drive away.

Good luck, and happy traveling!
