I have lost track of who originally asked about ignition placement, but here is my contribution.
I have posted a photo showing the placement of the Crane ignition module on my 78 Spider. There is a nice little flat spot there to mount to and it has never caused any clearance problems. Been doing it's job from that location flawlessly for a good number of years now.
