Re: RML Ignition System

Hi Terry:

I've got a Crane XR3000 and LX-91 in my '74 Spider. The Crane parts are the basis of RML's systems. I mounted the coil in the stock location, but the spark box is inside the cabin, under the glove box. I made an extension cable to attach the spark box to the optical trigger, but that was no trouble, and the connectors cost about $2. If you leave one of the connectors off the extension before it's poked through the firewall, you need only make a small hole (use a grommet). I wanted to hide the spark box, but there may also be some benefit from keeping it clean, cool, and dry inside the cabin. The trigger cable runs low along the inner fender (near the heater hose), and the coil wire runs high (as original). There's not a lot of room on that right inner fender, so watch your clearances with the Spica airbox, and remember the extra clearance required for removing and installing the airbox.

Regards,

Dean

Subject: RML Igintion System

Does anyone out there in Alfa Cyber Land have any experience with installing
the RML electronic system in a spider? I have a 74 spider and am trying to
figure out the best pace mount the ignition module. Right now the best place
appears to be the place where the Vehicle Emmission label is as it is the
flatest. Anyother good locations? I would like to make it as unobtrusive as
possible.
