Thanks for everyone's help with the Spider waterpump removal!

I ended up removing THREE of the lowest studs and replacing with correct size 
bolts.  Couldn't get the thing out by removing just two.

The crankshaft pulley removal technique was too involved!  No impact wrench, 
not enough room without removing a/c condensor, too damn much scary effort to 
get the bolt loose using a breaker bar.

Had all three studs out within a few minutes, two using double-nut method but 
had to use a vise-grip behind the loose water pump to remove the right stud due 
to lack of space.  

All came out fairly easily after using penetrating oil and issuing a silent 
prayer to the 'Alfa Romeo broken waterpump stud god'...
