Subject: Fair Lady Z and auto design

Colin, the designers of the MX5 (Miata) openly admit that the idea comes
from the Lotus Elan. I've even seen a magazine article showing the smiling
designers sitting on the bonnets (hoods) of an Elan and an early incarnation
of the Miata. Mind you, I believe the Miata is a milestone vehicle, perfect
timing and close to perfect execution.

The first time I laid eyes on an original RX7 I thought "gee, that looks
like a 911". Now I can't see the connection ??

", I personally think that the Miata
is an attractive and original design (after they got
rid of the hidden headlights) and I like the late
Mazda RX-7 designs. They look original to me, but, I'm
sure someone out there can tell me what they are
copies of.
