Fire Extinguishers

Do not buy a halon extinguisher. Actually, I don't think you can 
buy one, and they don't work well in the open air.

Most ABC extinguishers will do. The most important things are:

1) Put it somepace you can get to it. If it goes in the 
hatch/trunk, don't cover it with tons of cr@p. Mount it to 
somthing solid. Nothing says missle like an unsecured fire 
extinguisher in an accident.

2) Learn how to use it. Read the instructions before you expect 
how to use it. See if you can get your hands on an old one to see 
what happens when you discharge one.

3) If you suspect an engine fire, be careful opening the hood. See 
if you can point the nozzle into the compartment through a crack 
in an unlatched hood (Again, it pays to do this before you need 
to).
